Fracture prevention
Once you have had a fracture, especially a fragility fracture, you are more likely to have another.
About fracture prevention
Not all fractures are the same. Breaks in childhood, or of the fingers, toes, ribs or face, do not count as osteoporotic fractures. Neither do stress fractures from overuse, or breaks from serious accidents.
A fragility fracture is a break from a fall at standing height or less. Some happen from twisting or lifting something heavy, and we even see fractures from coughing. They are a sign of osteoporosis.
If this sounds like you, a bone density scan is the place to start.
